The MWI of my HT-286 is blinking permanently since yesterday evening. Also, there is no messages in the voicemail but there are bips when I pick up the phone. Tried to reboot or power cycle the ATA for 1 hour but this did not help. The "Subscribe to MWI" is set to "NO" in the ATA...

I'm using the same ATA and the MWI green light starts blinking 1 minute after a message is left in the voicemail.

Once the message is erased, it takes another 1 minute for MWI to stop blinking.

Did you try to update the ATA firmware? You can find the info on Linksys web site or on Google.

The issue is probably from your ATA settings

I believe that except telemarketers and similar automated calls, people will generally hang up after 5 or 6 calls if nobody answers.

I use the same option with VoipBuster for international calls after dialing a local VoipBuster voice server number in Montreal.

However this feature is not currently available with freephoneline.ca

This is a know registration issue with Fongo/FPL home phone. It takes about 1 hour for the ATA to register when powered off.
